Arapahoe County, Colorado was the first county in the state. When it was created, it actually stretched to the Kansas border, with Denver Colorado as its county seat. When Denver became its own county, the City of Littleton, Colorado became the new county seat. It still is currently one of the largest counties in the state.
Arapahoe County, Colorado was named for that Arapaho Indians who occupied a large part of the Colorado territory along with the Cheyenne Indians.
Arapahoe County includes the towns of Aurora, Bennett, Bow Mar, Centennial, Cherry Hills Village, Columbine Valley, Deer Trail, Englewood, Foxfield, Glendale, Greenwood Village, Littleton and Sheridan. There are more than 550,000 residents within the boundaries of Arapahoe County, Colorado.
There are many amenities within the county borders. Centennial Airport is to the south, the Denver Broncos Football Team headquarters is in Arapahoe County, numerous parks, golf courses, pools, recreation centers, shops and restaurants are abundant as well within the county.
